Since I started high school I was a little confused on what I wanted to do once I graduate. I considered many career choices. Dreher High school has never had a career specialist and once I found we had one I was ecstatic and very eager to meet with her. Well, once I met her she was a very friendly woman named Ms. Smalls. She was ready to start working with me right away to help me get on the right track for graduation. Once I started working with Ms. Smalls she helped me begin discovering what I wanted to do after graduation. She helped me research colleges to see which college I wanted to attend. In my C&PD meetings, I took a learning styles inventory that helped me understand what kind of learner I was which helped me realize why I had a tough time in some of my classes and how to improve my grades in those classes. I learned how to research colleges to compare in state and out of state colleges. I am really impressed on the work that Ms. Smalls does to help many other juniors and seniors prepare to walk across the stage at graduation. I hope one day that I will become as successful as Ms. Smalls in my chosen career choice that she helped me discover. The way that she talks to us and treat us is like we are adults and I really like that about her. I was glad that I had the chance to work with her and she was able to help me. - G. Since I started high school, I wasn’t too sure about what I wanted to do after high school. Then, I met Ms. Smalls. She helped me get a better understanding about many things that will help me prepare for my life after high school such as which college is right for me, the importance of improving my GPA, how to improve my grades in my classes I have struggles in, and most importantly, my future career. Ms. Smalls helps me stay on track. She helped me figure out what kind of learner I am. This information has helped me a lot. I now know what I want to do for a living and what classes I need to get prepared for my future career. I really appreciate Ms. Smalls and how she’s helped me prepare for my future. - A.
